Une mission du FMI attendue à Libreville dès ce lundi

Une mission du Fonds Monétaire International (FMI) séjournera à Libreville du 23 janvier au 6 février 2024. La délégation du FMI aura des rencontres avec les autorités gabonaises, parmi lesquelles le Président de la Transition, le gouvernement, les présidents des deux chambres du parlement, les associations des professionnelles de crédit et la Fédération des entreprises gabonaise (FEG).

Pour coordonner les échanges avec les experts du FMI, le Premier Ministre Raymond Ndong Sima a présidé vendredi écoulé une séance de travail à laquelle prenaient part les ministres Murielle Minkoue épouse Mintsa de la Réforme des Institutions et Marcel Abéké du Pétrole ainsi que l’ensemble des directeurs généraux des administrations économiques et financières du pays.

Pour le Chef du gouvernement, cette rencontre a lieu dans le contexte très particulier de la transition découlant  de la prise du pouvoir par les militaires, le 30 août dernier. Les nouvelles autorités du pays ont durant le dernier trimestre de l’année 2023 revisité la collaboration avec les partenaires au développement, le FMI en particulier.

Dans ce partenariat avec le FMI, les autorités actuelles se sont rendus compte de ce que le programme défini par l’institution financière internationale avec le Gabon n’était pas respecté.

Sur 6 revues, seule 2 ont été faites. Cette situation a amené le FMI à suspendre la poursuite de la 3ème revue avec pour conséquence l’arrêt des financements sur plusieurs projets prioritaires du gouvernement.

Au regard des enjeux de développement du Gabon, le gouvernement sur instruction du président de la Transition a décidé de normaliser ses relations avec la communauté internationale financière. C’est dans ce cadre que le ministre de l’Économie a été instruit de redynamiser la coopération avec le FMI.

La mission qui va séjourner au Gabon au titre de l’article 4 des statuts du FMI a notamment pour objectif de faire un état des lieux de la situation financière et économique du pays.

Dans cette dynamique, le Chef du gouvernement a rappelé durant la séance de travail de vendredi l’engagement de son équipe et sa volonté de mettre en œuvre les différentes réformes économiques et financières contenues dans la feuille de route présentée par le CTRI.

«  il faut que nous réussissions cet exercice, c’est dans notre intérêt« , a rappelé Raymond Ndong Sima avant d’inviter les uns et les autres à être professionnel et de mettre l’accent sur la transparence dans les échanges qui vont avoir lieu avec le FMI car les avis de cette institution sont également scrutés par d’autres partenaires au développement.
