Après Africa Oil Week (semaine africaine du pétrole) tenue du 10 au 13 octobre dernier, le Gabon poursuit la promotion de son bassin sédimentaire à Cap Town en Afrique du Sud où une importante délégation du Ministère du Pétrole participe à Africa Energy Week (semaine africaine de l’énergie) qui se tient du 16 au 20 du même mois.
La cérémonie officielle d’ouverture a eu lieu ce 17 octobre au Centre international des conférences de Cape Town. La délégation gabonaise est conduite par le Conseiller Technique du Ministre du Pétrole, chargé de l’amont pétrolier, Rodrigue Rogandji Mba et le Directeur Général Adjoint des Hydrocarbures, Fernand Epigat. Plusieurs techniciens de la Direction générale des hydrocarbures (DGH) font partie de la délégation, pour la réussite de cette opération de charme.
Dans un contexte dominé par la transition énergétique, le Gabon va mettre l’accent sur son potentiel gazier. Il s’agit de trouver des investisseurs pour la mise en valeur du gaz. Le secteur gazier est en plein essor au Gabon avec plusieurs projets initiés avec l’apport substantiel de l’opérateur Perenco.
Le pays a initié avec Perenco, la construction de l’usine de Gaz de pétrole liquéfié (GPL), gaz butane, de Batanga dans la province de l’Ogooué Martime. L’usine est fin prête et la mise en gaz est imminente. La Production attendue est de 15 000 tonnes par an. Environ 32 milliards de francs FCFA ont été investis.
Dans la suite de la mise en œuvre de ces projets structurants, il y aura également la construction de l’usine de production de gaz naturel liquéfié (GNL) au Cap Lopez à Port-Gentil. Les travaux vont démarrer début année prochaine. La production attendue en 2026. La construction d’un terminal gazier au Cap Lopez pour exportation du GNL fait partie du projet dont l’investissement est de 5 milliards de dollars. 700 000 tonnes de GNL produits dès 2026 dont l’essentiel destiné à l’exportation.
Il y aura aussi la production du gaz naturel au large de Mayumba dans la province de la Nyanga (sud-ouest du pays). Il est prévu la construction d’un gazoduc sur plusieurs km pour alimenter la centrale électrique à gaz dont les travaux vont être lancés l’année prochaine.
Le Gabon va donc au cours de cette semaine africaine de l’Energie chercher des partenaires afin de poursuivre la mise en valeur de son potentiel gazier, indique le service communication du Ministère du Pétrole.
Le 18 octobre prochain, Perenco fera une présentation sur tous les projets initiés dans le secteur gazier avec l’Etat gabonais. Présentation censée convaincre les investisseurs sur les opportunités qu’offre ce secteur au Gabon.
Africa Energy Week 2023 se tient sous la thèmatique centrale : « la Renaissance énergétique africaine : donner la priorité à la pauvreté énergétique, aux personnes, à la planète, à l’industrialisation et aux marchés libres ». Cet événement vital du calendrier énergétique réunira une fois de plus les acteurs mondiaux et africains de l’énergie, favorisant les discussions collaboratives sur la renaissance énergétique de l’Afrique.
