Pour augmenter sa production pétrolière et booster la production locale de 6000 barils/jour, l’entreprise pétrolière Perenco a décidé d’engager un investissement de 100 millions de dollars US, soit 61 043 milliards de francs CFA pour l’exploitation du champ Sardine situé à 20 kilomètres au large de Port-Gentil. L’annonce a été faite, le 25 mai, par le directeur Afrique du groupe Perenco, Denis Chatelan au ministre du Pétrole et du Gaz, Vincent de Paul Massassa, indiquant le début de la campagne de forage pour d’ici à quatre semaines pour s’étendre sur trois mois.
«Perenco vient d’installer une nouvelle plateforme qui s’appelle le Sigina dans 50 m d’eau sur le champ Sardine découvert il y a plus de 40 ans, mais qui n’avait jamais été mise en production.
