Les Panthères du Gabon U-20 ont remporté, le vendredi 7 juillet dernier à Kinshasa, la première édition du tournoi de football de l’Uniffac «Fatshi Cup». Les poulains d’Anicet Yala se sont imposés face aux Fauves de Bas-Ubangi de la RCA sur un score de 2 buts à 0. Avant cette finale, le ministre des Sports, au nom du président Ali Bongo Ondimba, avait fait la promesse d’une prime spéciale en cas de victoire. Cette récompense d’un montant de 30 millions a été remis, le 11 juillet, à la Fédération gabonaise de football (Fegafoot).
Sur instructions du président de la République, Ali Bongo Ondimba, «émerveillé par prestation footballistique et le sacre des Panthères U20 à la Coupe de l’Uniffac U20 Fatshi 2023», le ministère de la Jeunesse et des Sports annonce ainsi avoir remis à la Fegafoot, la somme de trente 30.000.000 francs CFA en guise de prime de vainqueur aux sportifs ayant participé à ladite compétition africaine, sous régionale. «Par ce geste, a déclaré le ministre des Sports Franck Nguema, le chef de l’État démontre, une fois encore, qu’il a foi en la jeunesse sportive gabonaise pour porter toujours plus haut, plus loin, plus fort le vert-jaune-bleu et rendre le Gabon digne d’envie dans le concert des Nations».
La Fegafoot fait savoir que le Gabon a empoché la somme de 60.000 dollars, soit plus de 30 millions de francs CFA correspondants à 20.000 dollars comme prime de participation de toutes les nations et 40.000 dollars pour le vainqueur.

Prévue initialement pour 6 équipes, la première édition de la Fatshi Cup s’est déroulée avec quatre nations : le Gabon, le Congo, la République centrafricaine (RCA) et la République démocratique du Congo (RDC). A l’issu de trois journées de compétition, le Gabon trône à la première place avec 7 points. La RDC se positionne à la seconde place avec 6 points, devant le Congo, 4 points et la RCA, zéro point.
